Korea‘s aviation industry has
emerged as one of the world's aviation leaders despite its
relatively short history of 61 years. In 2012, Korea ranked the
world's 15th and the 3rd largest country in terms of air
passenger traffic and freight traffic respectively. Moreover,
the Republic of Korea achieved the world's best SARPS
implementation rate 98.89% at ICAO USOAP (Universal Safety
Oversight Audit Programme) in 2008. Korea's aviation industry
is now being recognized as one of the safest in the world. The industry's remarkable growth has been achieved over the past 61 years since the first-ever charter flight from Seoul to Tokyo was successfully launched in October 1951 by Korea Airline Corporation, the country's state-owned airline. |
